言い訳;
Guga Hoping for Quarterfinal Spot Despite Loss
Former World No. 1 Gustavo Kuerten lives to fight another day at the Movistar Open in Vina del Mar despite losing his comeback match against Spaniard Oscar Hernandez Monday. The three-time Roland Garros champion, playing his first ATP tournament in almost 12 months, fell to Hernandez 7-6(2), 7-6(3). But he still has an opportunity to reach the quarterfinals due to the round-robin format of the tournament.
Kuerten, 30, was limited to just one ATP tournament match (at Costa do Sauipe in February) last year due to rehabilitation after hip surgery back in 2004.
Kuerten said: "I felt I was playing well. I obviously was lacking rhythm but I felt I was controlling the match at times. I think it's probably at the end that I played the best. I really had my chances to win that second tie-break. I also need to acknowledge that he played a very solid match; he gave away very few points and lifted his level in the key moments.
"Now I want to try to keep playing the way I played today. I have another singles match tomorrow and I still have the chance to qualify into the quarters."
